De la Rocha'nın rap müziğinden etkilenmiş vokali (Public Enemy grubundan Chuck D. en çok etkileyen isimlerin başında gelir), Tom`un gitardaki ustalığı, Brad`in vurucu davulu yüksek sesli müziğin en önemli gruplarından biri haline gelmesini sağlamıştır.
Rage Against the Machine (also short RATM) were a rock group from California formed in 1990 and popular during the 1990s. They broke up in 2000 and the band members that played instruments formed the band Audioslave with Chris Cornell, that was singing for Soundgarden. The members of the band (they called themselves the “guilty parties” in their albums) were:
Tim Commerford - bass; (he used different pseudonym on each album, they were: Timmy C., Tim Bob, Shimmering T, Y.tim.K and Tim.Com); now with Audioslave Tom Morello - guitar; now with Audioslave Zack de la Rocha - singing Brad Wilk - drums; now with Audioslave

Sie wurde 1991 von Zack De La Rocha (Gesang), Tom Morello (Gitarre), Tim Commerford (Bass) und Brad Wilk (Schlagzeug) gegründet. Die Texte des Frontmanns De La Rocha handeln von politischen, sozialen aber auch persönlichen Problemen, die die Band in ihrem Crossover-Mix aus Metal, Hip-Hop und Funk ausdrückt.

Draconian formed in 1994 and spent almost a decade working on their craft, with the usual lineup changes, demos and promos, before finally signing to Napalm Records and releasing their debut album, Where Lovers Mourn, a year later. The band straddles the line between gothic and doomdeath metal, with the more upbeat songs favoring the former genre while they often slow down to the more traditional doom tempos. They employ the beauty-and-the-beast vocal style effectively, with both vocalists preforming quite well, along with the requisite somber riffs and keyboard flourishes. If there's a criticism here, it's the standard one -- they aren't boring, they aren't really ordinary, and they don't sound like any one band, but at the same time there's little that really differentiates them from other bands in the gothic/doom camp. Having said that, Where Lovers Mourn is well-played and well-executed, and in time these guys/gal could certainly develop their own sound.
